Introducing Snar Gate Lodge No.6770
Here at the Snar Gate Lodge No.6770, we are always delighted to welcome new members to our growing community!
Founded on the 23rd March 1949, the Snar-Gate Lodge has become one of the Province of East Kent's most vibrant and fastest growing lodges.
Freemasonry can mean many different things to many different people - from charitable giving and community projects to social gatherings and masonic tradition, there is a great deal of good that can be achieved from joining the brotherhood of freemasonry.
Our lodge and its history is unique - founded in the devastation of post-war Dover, the founding members of our Lodge spent many years establishing and developing the lodge to the point that we are now one of the region's most diverse masonic lodges.
Meeting on the second Monday of each month from October to June, Snar Gate Lodge is open to all new applications - we hope the information below is useful!
Should you have any queries about Freemasonry or Snar Gate Lodge in particular, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
“Snar-Gate Lodge is a welcoming and growing lodge with a wide range of members, backgrounds interests. Despite this diversity our lodge members come together for a single purpose - namely that of mutual aid, charity and brotherhood. We look forward to welcoming you!”
Worshipful Master Elect of the Snar Gate Lodge - Barry Swinerd
What is Freemasonry?
Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest social and charitable organisations in the world. Its roots lie in the traditions of the medieval stonemasons who built our cathedrals and castles.
For Freemasons, there are four important values that help define their path through life: Integrity, Friendship, Respect and Charity. In today’s world filled with uncertainty, these principles ring as true as they have at any point in the organisation’s history. Freemasonry is open to both men and women and there are two dedicated masonic orders for women.
Integrity: Building good people
Freemasons are focused on building themselves as people of integrity and membership provides the structure to help achieve that goal.
Friendship: Building together
Freemasonry provides the common foundation for friendships between members, many of which will last for life.
Respect: Building unity
Freemasonry brings people together irrespective of their race, religion or any other perceived differences that can divide us as a society.
Service: Building compassion
Kindness and charitable giving are deeply ingrained within the principles of Freemasonry and the organisation provides the structure for members to make positive contributions to their communities and various causes.
